Financial Support
Sponsorship of a student who wants to learn but does not have the resources is an extremely rewarding endeavor. For as little as $90/year, you can send a child to primary school. Through Manos Amigas, unlike other programs, you are able to develop a relationship with your sponsored student. This relationship is beneficial for those on both sides of the border! Many of the sponsors continue donating for the same student for many years. Imagine the joy of knowing that you helped a young person go from a life of poverty to a college education and a career!

The core team of volunteers in Poleo are very active in the local church and community. Through long-standing relationships with the Kansas City area, these volunteers in Mexico can relay the needs of individual families in the community. Manos Amigas has been able to use the general funds to help families pay for funerals, doctor bills, propane gas, new roofs, and other unexpected expenses faced by these hard-working families trying desperately to escape the cycle of poverty.
Volunteer Support
There are many hours of work needed to support Manos Amigas. Some volunteers choose to travel to Lomas de Poleo to work and visit with the families we serve. Others help with administrative tasks, collecting school supplies, translating letters, planning VBS crafts, and numerous other tasks. As a Christian organization, with roots deep in the social justice teachings of the Catholic church, Manos Amigas recognizes that all of our work is multiplied by a loving God. We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers as we work with the people in Lomas de Poleo and Puerto de Anapra towards justice, peace, and a better tomorrow.
